Lip Blush After Care

At the end of your session, we will provide you with an after care kit that has everything you need for the 7-14 day healing process. This may vary per client, but 14 days is recommended for the best results.

Please keep in mind, your lip blush tattoo immediately after is still considered a wound and should be treated and cared for as such. Wash hands thoroughly before touching lips. Expect slight swelling, redness, and tenderness in the area. It will subside in 24-48 hours. You may apply ice to help the swelling subside.

DAYS 1 & 2:

  • The treated area should ONLY be cleaned using provided after care wipes.
  • Then apply a thin layer of ointment using a Q-tip.
  • Repeat 3x per day (morning, afternoon, night).
  • Bottled water can be used to rinse lips after eating and morning & night on Day 2.

**Always rinse lips with bottled waters and wipe, air dry & apply ointment after eating.

DAYS 3-14 OR UNTIL ALL SCABS FALL OFF:

  • Bottled water can be used to rinse lips after eating, and morning & night
  • Apply a thin layer of ointment using a Q-tip throughout the day. **Do NOT let lips dry out. Keep moisturized at all times
  • Apply thicker layer, only prior to the shower & face washing to protect from unwanted soap
  • Once lips start crusting, scabbing & peeling DO NOT pick or scratch
  • Rinse mouth with cool water after eating & reapply ointment
  • Drink liquids with a straw
  • It can take 2-4 weeks for the lips to show its full color

THINGS TO AVOID DURING THE HEALING PROCESS:

  • Be careful with teeth bleaching toothpaste & mouthwash (use minimal amount) excessive amounts can cause pigment loss
  • Avoid: contact with food (cut into bite size pieces)
  • Avoid: lipstick/ lipgloss, excessive sweating, sauna, pools, sunbathing, spicy/salty foods, wine, acidic foods, chapstick with SPF, major sun exposure or tanning
  • Avoid: Retin A, glycolic acids, Vitamin E, terry towels, Vitamin C, Neosporin, Bacitracin (anything that promotes accelerated healing and cell turnover may affect color retention)
  • No contact with animals or gardening for 7-10 days or until scabs fall off.

THINGS TO EXPECT DURING THE HEALING PROCESS:

The lips will go through 2 weeks of the initial healing process where they will darken, peel, lighten through the “ghosting” phase, and the color will return.  Swelling can appear within the first 24-48 hours but will subside as the time passes.  The color can fade up to 50% in vibrancy and color intensity.  We include a complimentary follow up session where we can touch up the color and make any adjustments as needed.
